Mobile Industry Event

The Mobile World Congress, the world’s premier mobile industry event, will be held from 27 February 2012 to 1 March 2012 at Fira Montjuic in Barcelona, Spain. With the transition of mobiles from a purely communication device to providing a host of services, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 will celebrate the current state of the mobile as well as offer a glimpse into its future potential.
The MWC offers the attendees different passes enabling them to participate in the different components of the event such as a conference featuring visionary keynotes and panel discussions, an exhibition on product and technology featuring 1,400 exhibitors, a venue to further networking, along with the App planet, the global mobile awards programme and their latest programme titled mPowered brands.
The GSMA Mobile World Congress 2011 was considered to be a record breaking year with increased participants, higher number of CEO’s and unprecedented numbers for exhibitors and mobile App developers. The keynote speeches for the event were given by Google's Eric Schmidt, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer and Twitter's Dick Costolo.
Some of the key agenda topics for the MWC 2012 include mobile health, mobile solutions for retail, mobile money, mobile cloud and network capacity. Apart from these, the event is also expected to address topics concerning strategies for growth, mobile innovation, mobile strategies, network technology evolution and advertising. Few of the key note speakers confirmed to speak at the event are Sunil Mittal, Chairman and Group CEO, Bharti Airtel; Stephen Elop, President and CEO, Nokia; Hans Vestberg, President and CEO, Ericsson and Rene Obermann, Chairman and CEO, Deutsche Telekom.
A significant element of the Mobile World Congress is the conference programme. In 2012, the programme is expected to concentrate on the different ways that the mobile industry is redefining communication. With the help of an enhanced keynote programme and over 30 focused conference sessions, the event aims to cover the latest technological trends and growth strategies for the global mobile industry.
With an impressive MWC directory, the 2012 event is expected to surpass the success of the Mobile World Congress 2011. Barcelona has been selected as the Mobile world capital from 2012 to 2018 during which it will host the GSMA Mobile World Congress, and will also develop a range of other programmes and activities that will help benefit the worldwide mobile industry.
